Hungry for Hummus?

By Isabel Kikoshima

A beautiful concoction of chickpeas, lemon, and garlic—hummus pairs perfectly with a variety of snacks. From veggies, to pita chips, to falafels, and so much more, hummus provides a smooth and savory addition to any pairing. Originating in Egypt, hummus has many health benefits due to the protein-packed chickpeas in the dip. Likewise, other versions like chocolate hummus have a rich and indulgent texture, which pairs best with fresh fruit or other desserts. With endless opportunity for pairings, hummus is a superb dip and can be eaten with almost anything.
Not only does hummus taste delicious with various snacks, but also requires little effort and time to make. Either blended in a food processor or blender, hummus has very few ingredients and only takes a quick blend to prepare. After preparing hummus, I would recommend adding some pine nuts and a drizzle of olive oil to add an extra level of flavor and texture. While the best hummus is probably homemade, the Mediterranean Hummus at Trader Joes also tastes delectable. Whether added on a sandwich or as a dip, hummus has many versatile pairings and requires little time to prepare.
