At around 10:40 a.m. on September 8th it was announced that Queen Elizabeth had passed away at age 96. This death marks the end of her 70 year rule, which is the longest of any British monarch and any female head of state in history. It is also the second-longest verified reign of any sovereign in history. With Queen Elizabeth’s death, her eldest son Prince Charles has taken over and is now the new King of the United Kingdom. Many people are mourning the death of their beloved Queen, and honoring her many achievements during her long and successful reign.
