Number 8

By Cuinn Huber

Each year, the Westmont baseball team rewards one senior player with the chance of being able to wear the number of one of our most treasured athletes, the late Kirk Vasquez’s #8 . This year the recipient was Ryland Wulff, this was given to him based on his team spirit and  passion for the game. He has had his eye on winning this prize ever since his friend and former teammate Reid Ross won it last year. “ I was very honored to win ever since Reid got it; it has been something I wanted to receive,” states Wulff. The legacy of Kirk has been very important to the baseball team since his tragic passing three years ago. He was a beloved student and athlete who had already committed to play division 1 baseball at the University of the Pacific his Junior year just months before his death. If you would like to help you can donate to the KV8 memorial foundation which helps local baseball players with anything from paying for books for college to helping local teams with making sure they have the supplies they need to play the game.
