Collin Murray, resident cool guy of Westmont campus, will only wear the finest fashion, from excessive baggy jeans to intricate graphic tees. While Collin takes great inspiration from the common skater boy, he does actually skateboard! In addition to skating, Collin will snowboard and film skate videos in his free time. Overall, Collin’s fashion not only looks cool, but also works practically for his lifestyle.

Wear whatever you want

What is a fashion trend you hate?

Mixing patterns or denim-on-denim. Yikes…I also don’t really like plaid, Lululemon, and bucket hats LOL. Some people can definitely pull these off, but not me!

What are some fashion tips you have?

Don’t be shy to experiment with your style! Try out a range of outfits, mine can either be full-on glam or pajamas. Also, I always include accessories of some sort. Build up your collection of jewelry, hair accessories, gloves, fishnets, and whatever else your heart desires. Who cares what people think—they’re too preoccupied with their own appearance!

Stunning the hallways with her exciting wardrobe, Junior Elika Kalami is one of Westmont High School’s fashion icons. Elika is hard to miss as she roams the Westmont campus rocking her iconic fishnet gloves, low rise jeans, and brightly colored, Y2K-esque tops. As the fashionista herself puts it, “I love being extra wherever I go and when people dress up for the fun of it!” Her inspiring energy and glamorous style leave her friends in awe; as Junior Diego Aquino perfectly describes: “#hellokittyandpinkforlife.” Elika’s friends add, “when she goes all out…she goes all out.” Below is an exclusive interview with this month’s fashion star, where she discloses her style inspiration, favorite pieces, and fashion tips.

Colorful, unique, and playful.

Who is/are your fashion icons?

I don’t really have a specific one, but I’d love to reach the goddess levels of Kali Uchis and Rihanna in the future!

What is a go-to item in your closet?

Low rise jeans and a Juicy Couture velour jacket for sure. Also, anything with rhinestones.

Where do you get your clothes from?

My clothes come from all over the place: Crossroads, thrift stores, and yard sales; online shops like Mercari and Target; and my family’s closet are some examples!

What is a fashion trend you love?

Like a lot of people, I love the Y2K trend.
