Charcuterie

By Cat Kemp

Charcuterie, literally translating to “cooked flesh,” is actually a delicious snack perfect for any party. Charcuterie is a French branch of cooking that consists of compiling meats, cheeses, crackers, and various fruits and jams onto a beautiful spread. Starting in 15 century France, the tradition of charcuterie started from people using all of the meat they possibly could with nothing left to waste. This process often led to people preserving and curing all the meat they had left into forms of sausage or dry-aged meat. This delicious snack is perfect for anyone, because even if you are a vegetarian, vegan, or have allergies, you can always find something perfect for you. Although the original charcuteries only consisted of different cured meats, they have evolved to include something perfect for everyone, whether it be cheese and crackers or just various fruits. Not to mention, these colorful masterpieces also make any spread look ten times better with how visually appealing they are.
