Alex Warren is an American singer-songwriter whose musical career took off after his song, Ordinary, was released. His successful music led to him earning the Best New Artist Grammy award. Wildchild is his second full album with 13 songs including already-released singles.
Here is my ranking of the songs on the album:
#1. “FINE PLACE TO DIE”- One of my favorites, this is a love song full of yearning and was actually written for his wife’s Fourth Wing obsession.
#2. “FEVER DREAM”- A song that will never get out of your head and a more upbeat love song compared to some of Alex’s other ones.
#3. “PASSENGER”- This upbeat song first came out as a single and is the perfect song for driving around with friends.
#4. “RESCUER”- A softer love song, it talks about finally finding something to love that loved him back.
#5. “EMERALD EYES”- This new upbeat love song is about being so in love that you “can’t fight the feeling.”
#6. “CRY WOLF”- Similar to some songs on his previous album, this song is about finally giving up on someone you always tried to help but never received anything back from in return.
#7. “SAME STARS”- This sadder song talks about missing someone so much that it feels like the world can’t possibly be moving on.
#8. “ONLY THING LEFT”- This song with a sadder melody is about living life with the person you love.
#9. “WILDCHILD”- This song is an emotional one if you know who Alex wrote it for. He wrote this song from his late father’s perspective, asking him to keep going in this sometimes cruel world.
#10. “LAST TIME”- Because both of his parents died when he was young, this song is about not knowing when you’ll see someone for the last time.
#11. “I MISS YOU MORE”- This song is dedicated to his dad, how much he misses him, and all the things he never got to see Alex do.
#12. “WON’T GO BACK AGAIN”- This song is about coming out from a dark place in his life stronger than before.
#13. “ARE YOU HAVING FUN, ALEX?”- This song is not actually a song, but a recently discovered audio of Alex’s late father’s voice.
