As the track season comes to an end, the team is finishing strong. Already competing in three league meets and several invitationals, only one league meet remains on April 23rd—those who place are advanced to league finals (Bvals). On April 2nd, the team celebrated their seniors and raced against Willow Glen High School, one of the team’s top competitors.
While many did an amazing job, one performance in particular came from freshman Harry Hewitt, who set a new personal record of 5:30 in the mile. His hard work during practice in training is proven by his performance, his positive attitude contributing to it overall. Whether he’s pushing through a hard track workout or uplifting his teammates, Harry brings the energy that contributes to the team effort overall.
He is not the only one; a remarkable group of freshmen, including Alex Villanueva, Tristan Scott, Takuto Sagara, and Shotaro Horibe, are as of right now ranked number one in the nation in the Distance Medley Relay (DMR). The DMR consists of four legs— 1600, 1200, 800, and 400-meter race. Through an incredible group, the team was able to become number one in the nation, an impressive accomplishment for this group of freshmen.
With the final meet being just a few weeks away, they hope to bring this momentum forward into the next season.
