Here, Birdie!

By Mia Hanuska

Westmont’s badminton team has recently begun their season, ringing in the new year with an insane 50 students! Last year, their win-loss rate was 8-2, and the team is looking strong for the 2026 season. Captained by Arthur Wang, Alicia Riddell, Emily Hwang, Lukas Neikell, Helen Ho, and Isa Khan, there are 12 returning varsity players and the team hopes to send more athletes to playoffs this year. The team is expertly coached by Tiffany Teoh and Diana Chang, and despite the large size of the team, most students know each other very well, fostering a strong community between teammates. Captain Arthur’s advice for players is to “never doubt yourself—when you’re going into a match, you have to believe you’re gonna win.” Good luck to the team this season! Their next game is on March 25th against Branham.
