With a new year beginning, I think about what I want to achieve in my lifetime. Thus, I have curated a list of my top five must-do items.
- Go Skydiving
Although I’ve gone indoor skydiving, I want to experience the adrenaline rush that accompanies jumping out of a moving plane and plummeting towards the ground. Seeing the world from a bird’s eye view seems so peaceful and beautiful; a perfect accompaniment to follow a scream-filled freefall.
- Run at least a half-marathon
Let me preface this bucket list item by saying that I am NOT a runner. In fact, I despise it with a passion. With that being said, in my lifetime, I would like to run a 13.1 consecutive
miles just to prove to myself that I can do hard things. Personally, I just want to finish the
half-marathon within the race time limit.
- Finish a Triathlon
Unlike running, I do enjoy biking and swimming. Therefore, I feel like I could finish a triathlon since two-thirds of it will be somewhat enjoyable. My triathlon would probably come after my half-marathon so that I could build up my endurance before throwing myself into a race.
- Take a culinary class
When I was little, I loved the summer cooking classes I took. As I’ve gotten older, I find myself wanting to learn how to make slightly more impressive dishes than chicken tenders and pasta. A culinary class would not only teach me important life skills but could also be a fun bonding activity with friends!
- Get into College (and attend)
I feel like this item is self-explanatory. The current college application process is crazy, and getting admitted to a good school feels like drawing a lottery ticket for the fate of your future. As a high school junior, all I can do is pray that I get into a decent school and that college applications won’t be too stressful.
