Cookie Showdown: Sweet Success or Crumbly Mess

By Penny Nunes

Mmm…do you smell that? It’s officially cookie season! Can you smell that delicious scent that makes you think of your childhood? Cooped up inside with your family, relaxing on the couch in cozy pajamas and your favorite blanket. Watching a holiday movie, drinking hot cocoa, and…eating cookies. If you are dying for that feeling again but don’t want to try every cookie just to figure out which is good and which is bad, don’t stress anymore! I tried a large amount of Trader Joes cookies so you don’t have to. Below is my list of which ones I’d get again, and which ones were a waste of money.

Sleigh Ride Cookies

This one is a 50/50 for me. I am not a huge fan of peppermint, which is the main idea of this cookie. However, I can’t lie, it was pretty tasty. The cookie has a soft, buttery texture to it which keeps you wanting more. A nice cookie to pack in your lunch for a hint of sweetness and a fun treat. If you like peppermint I would 100% recommend this.

Tart Cherry and Pecan Shortbread Cookies

I would not get these again, however, it was not the worst cookie I’ve tried. The texture was great, not too crispy, not too soft, perfectly in the middle. Although it has a delightful consistency, it was too sweet for my liking. The cherry taste over powered and didn’t quite sit well in a cookie. The flavor overall would be outstanding in a muffin, just not the right thing for a cookie.

Tiniest Chocolate Chip Cookies

Oh. My. Gosh. These cookies are the best thing I have ever had in my entire life. I’m embarrassed to admit…I ate half the bag in one sitting. They are so addicting. Perfectly crunchy and perfectly sweetened. Something about them is so special and makes me crave more. The only word that comes to mind when I eat them is, “FLAWLESS.” I have no changes to these little bites of heaven and if Trader Joes ever takes them away I will not be the same.

Snickerdoodle Cookies

Snickerdoodles are my all-time favorite cookie. I was through the moon excited to try these and see if they reach my standard…which is pretty high. I’m proud to say they did not disappoint. The soft, chewy consistency, the perfectly sweetened cinnamon flavor. It brings me back to Christmas time when I was 6, making snickerdoodles with my mom, listening to our favorite holiday songs. I wouldn’t be surprised if these cookies ended up in my dreams. 10/10 would recommend.

Well, I hope I helped you get some cookie inspiration! Happy eating!
