AOTI: Matthew Moody

Matthew Moody: star defensive lineman and star student. Known for his dedication, skill, and leadership, Matthew has become a key player on the football team as well as a top-performing student. Whether he’s making game-changing tackles on Friday nights under the bright stadium lights or acing his English assignments, Matthew approaches everything he does with focus and passion. When he’s not listening to some country tunes or classic oldies, you can catch him on the Westmont football field. Here is an exclusive interview with the man himself. 

When did you start playing football? 

I started playing football in my freshman year. 

What position do you enjoy playing the most? 

I enjoy playing defensive line. 

What is your favorite thing about playing football? 

My favorite part of playing football is Friday nights, when I get to play under the lights and get cheered on by fellow classmates. 

What has been your most memorable experience with football? 

My most memorable experience was beating Prospect in the Battle of the Belt last year. 

Do you have a pregame routine? 

My pregame routine is after school, getting food with teammates, then going home and getting ready. 

What are you excited about this season? 

I’m most excited for senior night. 

Do you see a future in football? 

I don’t really see a future in football after high school. I want to focus on college. 

Who would you thank for your successes in football? 

I’d like to thank Coach Kyle Carmona and Coach Johan Buchanan for always helping me improve my skills. 

What’s your favorite food? 

I would say my favorite food is Chipotle.

What’s your favorite class? 

My favorite class this year is English 4 with Ms. Bachelor. 

What’s your favorite post-game meal? 

My favorite post-game meal is McDonald’s with my friends. 

Who are your go-to music artists? 

My go-to music artists are Flatland Cavalry, Zac Brown Band, and Death Cab for Cutie.
