Three Cheers for Three National Merit Semifinalists!

By Mia Hanuska

Westmont extends our biggest congratulations to National Merit Semifinalists  Jocelyn Hwang, Yash Ranjith, and Alexander Wu. These seniors are three of more than 16,000 Semifinalists in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program. They’ve earned this title by scoring in the top 1% of all students who took the PSAT, a standardized test by CollegeBoard that students have the option to take in ninth and tenth grade, in California. These students have the opportunity to qualify for nearly $28 million of scholarships by continuing in the competition for one of the 7,140 National Merit Scholarships. It’s an extremely prestigious award that many strive to achieve, and Westmont is extremely proud of our three students. Congratulations again to Jocelyn Hwang, Yash Ranjith, and Alexander Wu. We wish you the best in your college endeavors!
