One thing about me is that I love to have a clean, good-smelling room at all times. So with that, my love for candles comes naturally. Anytime someone comes over, I routinely light a flame at least 20 minutes before their arrival, allowing time for the aromas to properly disperse throughout my room. My collection of candles, built up from many years worth of Christmas and birthday gifts, range in scents from holiday apple pie to delicious Dr Pepper. However, my favorite candle of them all is one that I made! Not too far from Westmont, in Willow Glen is Glow Candle Lounge, a place you can go to design and personalize a candle of your own! While I’ve only been here a few times, due to the fact that my teenage girl wallet is exhausted, I have loved it each time. Similar to its partner store Petroglyph, Glow Candle Lounge provides a cozy space to sit and zone out on a creative, highly satisfying task. First, you must choose your candle shape, then decide on the colors of wax you want. You then are seated by a host who explains how to place the wick and create the candle from scratch. Once you finish, you can add little accessories to the top as well as a scent. The calming experience lasts at least an hour but can go on for multiple hours depending on the size and detail you wish to put into your masterpiece. The only downside is that the wax takes 24 hours to set, so you must wait to pick up your candle the next day. If you are looking for something new to do with a friend or a nice way to celebrate a special occasion I would highly recommend treating yourself to this experience.
