About two and a half hours south-east, there is a college in the middle of nowhere that goes by the name Fresno State. Fresno State has a population of about 25,000 students, with an acceptance rate of about 95%, and is ranked 187th in the nation. And, even better, I will be gracing the hallways, all 100 acres of it, next year. So in hopes of convincing myself what’s so great about Fresno State, here’s some fun facts about Fresno.
- Fresno has a commercial winery on campus, and it’s the largest one in the nation on a college campus.
- Fresno has a nationally ranked equestrian team, and students can keep their horses on campus.
- Fresno has the 3rd largest library in the CSU system.
- Fresno has an on-campus planetarium, radio station, and news show.
As college application season is on the horizon, Fresno is an amazing, affordable option, that has a wide variety of majors, and is far enough away from home so that you can get away from your parents, if you really want to.
