“Have your ID ready!” He smirks, “It’s going to be my senior quote.”
If there’s one thing about student lunch employee Kaleb Ma, it’s that he takes a lot of pride in his work. Rightfully so, in order to distribute the necessary number of free lunches, someone has to make sure everything is in line. IDs must be out—though Kaleb does admit that he prefers physical cards compared to photos—lines must be formed, and cutting must be deeply regulated.
“I first signed up just because I was broke and I don’t do anything at lunch anyways,” Kaleb mentions, “but I kind of like projecting my voice, it helps with theater and singing so that’s a win.” Though Kaleb is a senior, he looks to immortalize his legacy at Westmont as The Most Passionate Man On The Job. When asked about the renovations for the cafeteria next year, Kaleb says, “I want to record my voice and play it on the PA system the new cafeteria is going to have. Just play it on a loop, remember me forever.”
And that we will. What is a typical lunch at Westmont without the booming reminder that the lunch line will go faster if we all have our student ID cards out?
