Purse’s Future at WHS

By Keira De Vita

Elliot Purse (Senior) is Westmont’s 2023-2024 ASB Executive Board Secretary. Through his time at Westmont and delving into his academic career, Elliot formed a fond attachment to Gary Rose’s history class and Laura Saldaña’s ASB. Chatting with Elliot for hours on end during senior class banner meetings, he spoke on his desire to teach history and later advance to become an activities director. At first, fellow bannermates Sasya Reddy, Molly Jarret, and I were taken aback by this statement. But as we bonded over spilled paint and Baja Blast Freezes, we got to know Elliot better; his dream started to make a lot more sense. He has strong leadership skills and shows dedication to the many things he is interested in. The Wally Award “most likely to work at Westmont,” goes to Elliot, the dedicated leader of tomorrow’s minds. While interviewing the future academic leader after he was bestowed this title, he gave a bit of insight into why he deserves such an award.

What is your dream job?

“Working at Westmont.”

Ultimately where would you like to be career-wise in 10 years?

“At Westmont.”

Which teacher(s) are your biggest role models?

Andy Evans.”

What was your favorite subject in school?

“All of them.”

These direct and straight-to-the-point answers highlight just why Westmont would be lucky to have Elliot as a teacher or staff member at Westmont. He is dedicated and obviously desires to work at Westmont in the future. Hopefully, we see him on the staff directory in years to come.
