No Need for a Megaphone!

By Sophia Doan and Donya Vandersteen

Congratulations to Bryce Hadley for winning the “Loudest Teacher at Westmont” award!! His exemplary vocal projection never fails to keep his students on their toes. Anticipating his next word never ceases to keep the class engaged. No need for coffee—Hadley’s thunderous voice blaring through your ears at 8 in the morning is all the caffeine you need! His unpredictable hollers may give you a minor heart attack; however, the loud, booming voice wakes you up from the deepest of sleep. Though the outbursts could be viewed as bothersome or distracting, many find them to add intrigue to the lesson. Below we interviewed the man, the myth, the legend himself: Bryce Hadley!!

How do you feel about winning this award?

“I’m honored to win such a prestigious award because this is a very tight competition between Eric Buran, Chris Haskett, and Andy Evans. I feel like there are a lot of candidates, so I am truly honored that I was chosen.”

Do you agree that you are the loudest teacher at Westmont?

“I think that’s up for debate, I can’t argue with being nominated, but I certainly don’t like to give awards to myself. I would more than likely give it to one of the aforementioned teachers.”

How do you use your vocal projection in your teaching?

“Mostly to scare students.”

Have you ever received a complaint?

“All the time, but I don’t listen to any of them.”

Any additional comments?

“(whispers) No.”

Below, we have included a voice recording of Hadley screaming his favorite literary quote referenced in Brave New World
