Westmont’s Dazzling Dance Team

By Anjali Nayak

Feuling the school spirit during home football games, the Westmont dance team’s graceful moves and fun comradery continues into the 2023 – 2024 school year. The twelve person dance team is made up of mainly sophomores and two wonderful assistant coaches Amanda Kappenman and Cat Kemp. Kappenman says “I want to shout out Kelly Marshall because she’s the only upperclassman performing right now, so she’s been taking on lots of lieutenant roles during performances! And be on the lookout for Leah Ohashi because she’s a new sophomore on the team and has been killin’ it so far!” One of the most interesting aspects of the dance team is the opportunity students are given to choreograph routines. The first football halftime routine was done by Marshall. Make sure to cheer them on during their next performance at the homecoming rally on September 27, which will be choreographed by Kappenman! Of course, the team wouldn’t be as great as it is without the help of coach Sarah Stults. This will be Stult’s second year coaching the dance team, and her dedication to the team is as strong as ever. Go Westmont dance!
