Dribble, Shoot, Score

After winning the league last year with a record of 8-2, the Westmont girls basketball team is looking to continue their legacy. However, without the graduated seniors and with new coaches, this season will definitely be a lot different. Without a doubt, the new head coach, Trevor Naas, will lead the girls basketball team to another league title. With seven  returning varsity players, all seniors, the team is stronger than ever and the girls are determined to make their senior season the very best. Be sure to check out the girls basketball team at their first home game of the preseason on November 28 at 7pm vs Santa Clara and their first league game on January 10 at 7pm vs Lincoln!

Last season the Varsity boys ended in 4th, with a seasonal record of 5-5. After winning their first playoff game against Gilroy, Westmont lost to Leigh and, therefore, ended their successful season last year. This year, the boys are looking forward to winning league and possibly competing for the CCS title. With a new varsity assistant coach, Doug Nishijima the team is pumped for the season. Last year, as a junior, Luke Mathiesen won co- junior of the year and Sebastian Chegini made all league first team and won defensive player of the year. Both of these seniors would love the opportunity to continue their basketball career in college and are stoked to play their final season as a Westmont Warrior. “I am very excited to play in the atmosphere that we had last year,” Sebastian comments. Senior Jonathan Campana also adds how he is “excited to play with all my friends.” Overall, the gym bubbles with excitement as the Westmont boys basketball team looks forward to a great season. Come support your Westmont Warriors at their first preseason home game on November 15 at 4pm vs Pioneer and their first league home game on January 11 at 5:30pm vs Prospect.
