The girls varsity softball team is ready for another successful year following their unfortunate CCS finals loss last season. Led by team captains, juniors Bella Andrade and Jacqui Mclean, and senior Hailey Abdilla, the girls are off to a solid start with a record of three wins and two losses. Following their league title last season, the girls have moved up to the A league where they will face fierce competition such as last season’s A league champion, Branham. Most recently, the girls came in second place in the Salinas tournament, losing to Mitty 3-0 in the championship game. Junior Jacqui Mclean expresses “we’ve competed against some really good teams so far in the season and I think everyone is working really hard to redeem ourselves from our second place finish last year.” With an older and more seasoned team consisting of entirely upperclassmen and experience in a CCS final under their belt, the girls are ready to come back this season and clinch that coveted CCS title, which would be the first title for Westmont softball ever! Come support the girls at their next home game as they take on the second best team in the nation, St. Francis, on March 25 at four.
