Track Preview

By Kayla Kim

With spring sports approaching, the track team has been putting immense effort into their preseason meets. At the first invitational of the season, hosted by Willow Glen on March 5, the Westmont Track Team dominated with Ian Grosch leading the way. Ian ran three races in which he received a medal in two out of the three races; gold in the open 400m and silver in the open 200m. Zach Irwin placed third in the 1600m with a personal record of 4:31.72 and the girls 4x100m relay also received a bronze medal with Nikki Witana, Taylor Witana, Melania Metanovic, and Sophie Schwarz as the four runners. In one of the most recent invitational, K-bell, which occurred on March 12,  Ian was the only runner to place. He ended up placing  third out of 159 athletes in the open 200m, which put him as 23rd in the state. A huge congratulations to all the athletes who ran these past two invitationals.

The Westmont Track team starts the season strong with high participation and hard work in these first two invitationals of the year. With Coaches Jason, Ron, and Paul leading the way, they anticipate a strong and fun upcoming season and hope to claim the title of League Champions once again. Come support your fellow Warriors at their first home meet on 3/30 at 4pm against Silver Creek!
