The University of California Los Angeles, known for its leading research institution, opens a door for students to learn in prestigious academic courses. Founded on May 23, 1919, the University of California Los Angeles, UCLA, has grown into the top university of California. Some of the popular majors in the school include biology, economics, business economics, political science, psychology, and psychobiology. UCLA is in the top 10% of the country for biology and 15th in the world and ranked number 2 among U.S. public universities (UCLA). In addition, U.S. News & World Report ranked UCLA first among public universities in 2021 and 20th overall among national universities (U.S. News & World Report). Due to 4 out of the 6 most popular majors being related to science, most students pursue their degree further into medical school or attaining a PhD. UCLA’s attached medical school, the David Geffen School of Medicine, has a 2.8% acceptance rate making it a challenging, yet inspiring path for future doctors. UCLA has a significant source of education, research, and innovative thinking on sustainability and the environment. Located in Los Angeles’ Westwood district, five miles from the Pacific Ocean, the school gives students the perfect opportunity to spend a relaxing afternoon at the beach. Often described as a public Ivy League, UCLA has a selective process on who they let in, as students have to prove themselves extraordinary in both their academic and extracurricular life. However, if you have a pronounced interest in the medical field, theater/film/television, business/economics, or even have plans for student research, do not be scared to apply this fall! UCLA has many courses to offer as well as a friendly and exciting environment!
