Sticking Together: WHS Field Hockey

By: Kaia Costa

The competitive athletes of the Westmont Field Hockey team are eager and ready to be back on the field. They are currently 1-1 in preseason, with a 2-1 loss to Branham, and a 6-0 win against Lynbrook High School. Following the lead of coaches Haley Morin and Trish Casillas, the girls have been practicing and conditioning nonstop, ready to tackle another season. In 2025, the Field Hockey team went down a league, and had a far more competitive season than 2024—ultimately finishing second in league. This year, the team is hungry for the league title, and are on a mission to make it to CCS. With a team full of potential and promising athletes like Teya Halali, 2025 Freshman of the Year, Sophie Tuan, 2025 Junior of the Year, along with many other All-League award winning players, the season looks promising for The Warriors. Captains Eleanor Graham, Delaney Pound, and Sophie Tuan, all push their teammates in practice and games daily, striving for improvement. Eleanor says she is “looking forward to senior night” because, “it will be a wholesome night” to spend reflecting on the past 4 years she spent dedicated to this program. All captains are equally looking forward to winning the league as well. Be sure to show some support for the Warriors at their next home game, Thursday, September 17th, versus Cupertino at 4 pm in the bowl!
