When summer passes, the inevitable starts: a new school year. Like many, I dread starting classes and waking up at the crack of dawn after summer vacation, but even the smallest things you do for yourself can make the transition back to school a little less chaotic.
On school days, it’s important to get enough sleep the night before and maintain a regular sleep schedule. I’m sure the majority of high school students (including myself) don’t listen to this, and that’s understandable. Our lives are hectic: balancing school, extracurriculars, and home life. It’s hard not to be tired. Needless to say, going to sleep earlier will give you more energy to focus and have fun.
Resuming classes is always stressful. Keeping a calendar to track your assignments/due dates can make the workload seem lighter. If you keep a schedule on your phone, set some reminders for important projects! Procrastination can take over, and before you know it, the missing assignments pile up.
Coming back to school doesn’t have to be as stressful as it seems. Take care of yourself; your time in the classroom can be much more positive and memorable than you expect.
