Mitski’s Nothing’s About to Happen to Me

By Sabrina Staringer

Mitski has long been one of my favorite artists creating music today. Nothing’s About to Happen to Me is Mitski’s newest studio album, released on February 27, 2026. When I heard Mitski was releasing new music, I was ecstatic to listen to the 11-track album the second it dropped. Mitski’s music is known for evoking sadness, and some people associate her music with hard times in their lives. Certainly, this isn’t the case for everyone, but most of the songs on Nothing’s About to Happen to Me deal with emotional and relatable themes. Nothing’s About to Happen to Me reminds me a great deal of my personal favorite Mitski record, Puberty 2If I Leave, the 4th track off Nothing’s About to Happen to Me, is my personal favorite song on the album because of its dark, guitar-driven rock akin to the sounds of Puberty 2. If you haven’t already, go listen to Mitski wherever you listen to music!
