Nothing Compares to Soft Cookies

Soft Cookies are not just any dessert that happens to be soft; they’re a specific bakery that completely redefined what a cookie could be for me. I’m pretty sure Soft Cookies are only available in Israel, which is actually really depressing for me because I can’t stop thinking about them. I can’t think of any other cookie that even comes close to matching their amazing flavor and texture combination.

While I was at Alexander Muss, getting Soft Cookies was more than just getting something to eat; it was an experience. If someone would ordered Soft Cookies via Wolt, we would basically be on a mission. You would have to sneak back into your dorm, hoping no one saw you, and then immediately get bombarded with “Can I have a bite?” before half of your box was gone. It may sound like an exaggeration, but I have many great memories during this time that revolve around Soft Cookies, like going out with friends and laughing while trying to make the cookies last as long as possible.

The biggest shock for me was how fundamentally different these cookies were from any preconceived notions I had about how a cookie should taste. I had always thought these cookies were going to be just as sweet as Crumbl cookies (extremely, sickeningly sweet), yet have the same consistency of very rich, buttery cookie dough…that you would be barely able to eat one…But these cookies had the perfect amount of richness and sweetness; however, they did not feel excessive but rather the perfect amount of each. The actual flavors of the cookies were perfectly soft without being greasy. 

Our favorite three cookies quickly became M&M, Nutella, and Kinder. Each cookie was uniquely different from the others, yet any time you ate any of the cookies, they all had that same great soft, satisfying texture. Even today, when I think about these cookies, I do not think of them as snacks (although they were), I think about the irreplicable memories of eating them with friends.
