#1 – Strawberries
When I think of strawberries, I think of two things. One, chocolate-covered strawberries, and two, strawberry shortcake. I also think of summer. So basically wins all around. My only issue is if you get a really good strawberry, you don’t get to enjoy it to its fullest because it’s basically all gone after the first bite.
#2 – Banana
Honestly, this is a total hit or miss for me. One second, all I’m craving is a banana, and the next, just the thought of the texture makes me nauseous. On the other hand, banana bread instantly makes it kinda one of the best fruits out there, simply because of what you can make with them.
#3 – Grapes
When they are good, oh, they are sooooooo good. And they come in bunches, so you don’t just get a little bit of good fruit, you get a lot. In my opinion, green grapes are the best ones out there. Bonus points for anyone who puts their grapes in the freezer, it’s a little painful on the teeth, but oh, it’s good in the summer.
#4 – Pineapple
After my dad made me learn how to cut this strange-looking, slow-growing (2 years to make a single fruit), acidic mouth-cutting fruit, he started buying it all the time. It’s not great and never really stands out to me, but there’s also not really bad pineapple out there.
#5 – Dragon Fruit
I tried this one time because it’s just so iconic looking, and I was so disappointed. Not only does it lack flavor, but the little flavor it does have also has a startling resemblance to dirt (don’t ask me how I know this). Perhaps I got a bad one, but I really don’t think that was the case. I have to give it props for being so stunning to look at, though.
#6 – Oranges (Cuties)
I used to hate peeling these, but now I love them because I always do it in one piece—it’s like a game. In my opinion, this is the most convenient fruit out there. No cutting. No juices flying everywhere. Eating while you are walking? No problem, eat it piece by piece with absolutely no struggle at all. Evolutionary perfection.
#7 – Cherrys
These used to scare me, I’m not going to lie, but once I tried them, I regretted not eating them earlier. My only complaint? I haven’t been able to do the knot in the stem with the tongue-tying trick. Trust me, I’ve tried.
#8 – Blackberry
I love these. A good blackberry just hits the spot for me, especially if it’s homegrown. Boy oh boy. Sometimes I do think they are a littleeeee too seedy, but I’m willing to overlook this matter for the sheer happiness it brings me. Sometimes I buy a basket of these and finish them all on my way to my car, before I even pull out of my parking spot.
#9 – Watermelon
My hottest take out there: I don’t love watermelon. A good watermelon does not stand out from an incredible watermelon, and that’s its first flaw. I think watermelon isn’t loved for its taste, but rather for the memories most people attach to it. When you think of a slice of watermelon, you probably think of a warm sunny day at the beach as a kid, your mom calling you out of the ocean for lunch, but you don’t actually think of the fruit.
