My Super-Sister

By Nupur Apte

Out of 8.5 billion people, there is only one person I would choose to be exactly like, in every single way. I have been looking up to my older sister since the moment I was born, and my parents like to say that my first word was a nickname I had for her, and how I would repeat it for hours and hours. If you would have asked me back then what I wanted to be when I grew up, I would confidently say that I wanted to be her. That’s more or less the same as it is today, and she constantly amazes me with her drive, determination, and kindness. She has been a gymnast since she was 5 years old, and the only person I knew who legitimately cried when she had to skip. Part of the reason I admire her so much is her drive to be great and how she has achieved that through hard work and perseverance. The next reason I call her super-sister is her kindness. When I used to get in a lot of trouble with my parents, and they would yell at me, she would come in the room and make my parents’ wrath shift onto her, so they would stop yelling at me. She’s the definition of an older sister, and today, right now, if anyone were to ask me what I wanted to be when I grew up, my answer would still be her.
