The Westmont Boys Soccer team has been playing well. This spark came when they snapped their losing streak by stunning Willow Glen 3-1. On this team, every player is willing to play their part and more. One of the West mont Midfielders, Rasmus Koeppen, has been putting in shifts at left back. This type of loyalty and commitment to the team has contributed to their success. Every player is willing to do their part, play anywhere, and play for as long or as short as their coach needs.
The Soccer team also played Lincoln and defeated them 1-0. This type of performance required the defense and the goalkeeper to be on form throughout the game; not a second could be slept on in this 1-0 nailbiter. A scoreless first half, followed by a triumphant goal for Westmont, sealed the victory.
On the 29th of January, Rasmus Koeppen led the team to a victory over Prospect High School with a 4-goal performance. The game ended 4-3, and the Warriors got revenge on Prospect for its earlier defeat. I spoke with him after the game, trying to get his reaction to his stunning performance, but his reply was, “I’m just playing the game.” Both a coach’s dream and a clutch star, he is proving that he belongs at the very top of this league’s player rankings.
Holding 4th place, this team now fights to win the A-League division of BVAL, and later CCS. They won’t stop at anything until they do. It is a tall task, but these players and coaches are prepared for the push.
