South Asian Student Union Club

By Samhita Holla

Walking into Room 62, you notice two things. The meeting slides on the projector screen, and, more importantly, samosas, a popular Indian pastry. Eyeing the samosas, you happily sit down at a table to learn more about South Asian culture through Kahoots and interactive activities. At the end of the meeting, you finally bite into the samosa, tasting the mildly spicy potatoes and peas. Surprisingly, these lunchtime meetings are only a small portion of SASU, as we host events, fundraisers, and many more lunchtime activities. One of the highlights of the year is Garba, an Indian cultural night in October filled with songs, food, and music (with a DJ!). During the event, hundreds of people come together to dance to Indian music, whether in a traditional Garba circle or a mosh pit. Overall, SASU creates a welcoming space for students to celebrate culture and have fun together. Come to Room 62 during Lunch on B-Day Wednesdays, and stay updated by following @westmont.sasu on Instagram!
