2026 Bucket List

By Averi Halbert

Rather than making complete changes to my habits in honor of the new year, I chose a few things I want to experience over the coming year instead. Goals that—I think—are slightly more obtainable than going to the gym every day, and that will allow me to live life to the fullest, gaining a few more meaningful memories in the process. Of course, this list will change over the year as I realize some might not be as attainable as I had hoped, as I cross some goals off, or as I add more adventures to experience.

My list is in no particular order.

  1. Climb Half Dome
  2. Go on at least three road trips
  • Road trips count as five hours or more of driving to me (not Tahoe)
  1. Learn the constellations
  • And be able to find them in the sky
  1. Learn ASL
  • Important: I am not expecting to be fluent or good, just know enough to tell my family/friends I want to go home
  1. Find another favorite book
  • Either the hardest or easiest on this list
  1. Swim in the ocean while it’s raining
  2. Take a class
  • Like pottery or cooking
  1. Run a 10K
  2. Go skydiving
  3. Learn at least one song on the guitar
  • Kinda want to learn Brazil by Declan McKenna
  1. Change a tire
  2. Swim in bioluminescent water
  • Please, please, please
  1. Visit Death Valley
  • Mostly for the Milky Way
