In honor of Valentine’s Day, and as an avid country music listener, I’ve been inspired to share some of my favorite songs with you! Having attended numerous country concerts and with all five of my Spotify Wrapped artists belonging to the country genre, I’d say my country music credentials are pretty solid. With the poetic lyrics and catchy rhythm, these songs will be sure to leave you yearning, tearing up, or missing your significant other a little extra after a good listen. Without further ado, (and in no particular order) here are my rankings for my favorite country love songs.
- Somewhere With You – By Kenny Chesney
Emotional, honest, and vulnerable. This song makes me feel something every listen; I’ll never get sick of it.
- The Chair – By George Strait
An absolute classic! George Strait tells a story with his lyrics and has one of the most iconic, smoothest voices in country music.
- Flower Shops (feat. Morgan Wallen) (Acoustic) – By ERNEST, Morgan Wallen
Arguably one of Morgan Wallen’s best songs, and it’s a feature! Another song with amazing storytelling. Apologetic and so creative, what’s not to love?
- With You I Am – By Cody Johnson
Cody Johnson describes how you can find peace and purpose through loving someone who makes you feel complete. This song sounds like it was written about not only his lover, but also his best friend.
- Ends of the Earth – By Ty Myers
It’s in the title! Ty Myers displays how, through trials and tribulations, his love will never fail. He will go to the Ends of the Earth for the person he loves.
- Forever and Ever, Amen – By Randy Travis
Although this song has recently been trending on TikTok in a more comical way, the attention has helped a classic and heartfelt track finally receive the recognition it deserves. It stands as one of the most wholesome country songs ever written.
- Tomorrow – By Chris Young
While it isn’t a new song, “Tomorrow” has remained a fan favorite for years. It perfectly captures the struggle of loving someone you know you should walk away from, making it one of Chris Young’s most powerful and relatable love songs.
- Loving You On My Mind – By Chris Stapleton
This song easily captures the quiet pain of loving someone you can’t fully have. Its raw emotion and soulful sound make it a deeply moving and unforgettable love song.
- The Truth – By Jason Aldean
Aldean tells the story of missing someone while pretending to be moved on. Its honest lyrics and vulnerability make it truly unforgettable.
- A Life Where We Work Out – By Flatland Cavalry, Kaitlin Butts
Honestly, I saved the best for last. This song has been in my top 3 most-streamed songs for 3 years in a row now. Not only do the artists’ voices blend seamlessly together, the lyrics also feel like a stab in the heart; somehow, in the best way possible.
