By Sadie York
Rooted in the depths of the earth
Clinging with fierce determination
You stand tall as a tree
Resilient to the gusts of wind
Threatening to sway your branches
You bear a plethora of fruit
You always provide
Always providing.
No complaints, without question
As your leaves turn from green to orange,
As they then turn from orange to barren branches,
As the frigid air attacks your trunk
You remain unwavering.
A few scratches have tarnished your bark
A few leaves plucked before a natural fall
A few stormy nights threatening to uproot your sow
Yet still you stand.
