After beating Pioneer High School, the Westmont Girls Water Polo team has qualified for the Central Coast Section Playoffs. Led by #5 Maya Bourne, they demolished Pioneer 10-6. This marks the first CCS berth in the program’s history. This team achieved this by beating Prospect 8-7 and then triumphing over Pioneer. This team has accomplished this monumental feat without having a single senior on the roster. In fact, they have only one upperclassman this year. They hope to repeat this feat next year, bringing back all of their players with more experience.
Their record this year is 19-7, with wins over teams like Prospect, Pioneer, Evergreen Valley, Carmel, and Harbor. They have 7 losses this year: Valley Christian twice, Pioneer, Presentation, Leland, Willow Glen, and Wilcox. Despite these losses, the team is ranked in the top 150 nationally.
