In a shocking move, Trump has demolished the East Wing of the White House—a historical section of the White House which formerly housed offices for the First Lady and her staff—in order to build a new, grandiose ballroom.
Said ballroom is expected to cost approximately $300 million (and will surprisingly come from Trump himself and non-profit donors). So far, the demolition of the East Wing has been completed, but construction of the ballroom has yet to begin.
Citizens have drawn out concerns about the new ballroom—pointing out that the project proceeded without any final sign-off from the National Capital Planning Commission. Furthermore, according to critics, the project potentially violates environmental, labor, procurement, and historic preservation laws.
As of right now, the ballroom has not been completed (or started) so truly only time will tell whether these concerns will come to fruition or not.
