I am thankful for the quiet—the little moments of peace amidst the everyday chaos. In these instances I am reminded to appreciate what I have and what’s around me. I am reminded to take in my surroundings, take a deep breath, and calm myself.
It is in the quiet right before I fall asleep that I remind myself of ten things I am most grateful for, or the silence before a game that I take a calming breath to focus my mind. Even when life feels like it’s rushing by I find peace in the little pockets of quiet. My peace lies in the stillness of the world during a morning run, the darkness that accompanies reading a book late into the night, and the comfort of the covers on a rainy day. The small moments are when I feel most present—no stressing over the future or wondering about the past. I can relax, even if just for a second, and enjoy the quiet.
