RÜFÜS DU SOL Lights up the Night

By Sadie York

Lighting up the grounds of Shoreline Amphitheater, RÜFÜS DU SOL, an Australian EDM band, created an atmosphere like no other concert I’ve attended before. As the second-to-final stop of their Inhale/Exhale tour, the band took on the outdoor venue of Shoreline, where my friends and I purchased lawn tickets. Upon arriving, we bought merch, got food, and took photos with the harmonies of opener Glass Beams strumming in the background. Once the start of the show neared, we crept to the front of the lawn where a pit was forming. Finally comfortable in a decent spot with a decent view, we waited until those first few strums of Inhale/Brighter.

This show, at times, left me genuinely speechless. The visuals, as well as the sound quality and camera work, completely immersed me in the atmosphere. Despite being in a pit, the crowd was respectful, and no one was pushing or shoving each other, which also allowed for a much more enjoyable experience. The energy from this show was off the charts, and not just from the artists themselves, but from the music, which got everyone swaying to the same beat. My personal favorite of the night was the final song of the encore, and thus the closer, Music is Better/Be With You. Once again, the energy was simply amazing, and the lights were completely mesmerizing. If touring again, I would 100% attend another one of  RÜFÜS DU SOL’s concerts, and if curious about their music, I highly suggest checking them out before those next tickets go on sale.
