Malaika’s Review:
Overall Movie (8.5/10): This movie was super different than anything I’ve watched before, and the whole concept of “aging backwards” was really cool and pretty emotional.
Plot of the Movie (9/10): The plot was actually so crazy but really good at the same time, because it was really creative and original. It took us through parts of Benjamin’s life which made me think about how timing affects relationships and about how everyone grows in their own ways.
Characters (10/10):
Action (4/10): It really wasn’t an action-filled movie, but there are a few parts in the movie where he was in war and on a boat which added some energy in a way, but the movie focused on more emotional themes as opposed to action.
Drama (9/10): The drama aspect of the movie was honestly pretty intense but in the best way because it kept me engaged.
Roman’s Review:
Overall Movie (8.7/10): The movie was filled with intricate references to past historical events, which added to Benjamin Button’s involvement in history. Ostracized from society due to his rare disease, which ages him backwards, Benjamin Button’s relentless perseverance through all his turmoil truly makes the movie an inspirational watch.
Plot of the Movie (9/10): Although the plot wasn’t exactly straightforward, as viewers observe Benjamin Button’s life, they forget all about the plot and enjoy seeing him mature.
Characters (10/10): The movie’s character interaction is perfect; the way everyone interacts with Benjamin Button through acts of sympathy, ostracization, or pity adds a sense of gloom to his unfortunate situation.
Action (5/10): While the movie may not have had a lot of action, the few detailed action scenes, such as those of war, were not only historically accurate, but also extremely gruesome.
Drama (9.6/10): The movie’s entire premise revolved around the dramatic ups and downs of Benjamin Button’s life. His refusal to let his disability define his life climatically engages the viewer through hopes of a semi-normal life for him.
