I got my license at only sixteen,
So now I’m in control of a massive machine.
Some kids feel a sense of freedom at this time,
But many feel wistful at their inevitable upward climb.
Independence is a thing that many teens strive for,
Sometimes all we want is to explore!
From Santa Cruz to San Francisco, there are many things to do!
Surfing, shopping, tanning, and even hiking too!
Everyone is different, but one thing is for sure…
Trust is important, especially as you mature.
Freedom and trust go hand in hand,
Make sure you have earned it, do not demand!
Your parents only care for your safety and well being,
Don’t make them beg for your attention and have every argument end in pleading.
Patience is a virtue, most would say,
But the long for independence kind of gets in the way.
Yes, you’re only young once, so live life to the fullest,
Just make sure you stay yourself, you don’t need to be the coolest!
Grow at your own pace with your own perceptions and opinions,
“Please stay safe and make good decisions!”
It’s okay to be nostalgic and miss the good times you’ve had,
And it’s okay to be excited, nervous, or glad.
Growing up can be hard but you should never forget,
Life moves on, don’t waste time doing things you’ll regret!
