On Monday, May 5, 2025, the famed annual Met Gala was held at the iconic Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, once again transformed into a glamorous runway; this time, with the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” celebrating Black dandyism. The evening’s dress code, “Tailored for You,” challenged attendees to put their own unique spin on classic menswear and get creative with personal style. Head chair and Editor in Chief of Vogue Anna Wintour backed the event, joined by her co-chairs Pharrell Williams, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, Lewis Hamilton, and honorary co-chair LeBron James. - Rihanna (in Marc Jacobs) 8.5/10
Once again announcing her pregnancy on the carpet, (her third!) Rihanna absolutely nailed this look. The colorblock shoes, red tie scarf, and pinstripe style of the suit are some of my favorite details of the night, very on theme.
- Teyana Taylor (in Ruth E. Carter) 10/10
This look was insane, with so much going on in the best way possible. I loved the colors and the gloves and hat were a nice touch. The heavy usage of chains and jewelry is very eye-catching.
- Zendaya (In Louis Vuitton) 10/10
As the queen of the Met herself, Zendaya always eats. This time, her white suit is perfectly tailored to her body, it’s almost like it was sewn directly on her. 10/10, no notes (unless you’ve seen the Zendaya hat lore meme).
- Sabrina Carpenter (in Louis Vuitton) 9/10
No notes, I love the rich maroon color and the sleek cut of the bodice on her, and the suit chain around her collar is very nice; a very elegant and polished look!
- Damson Idris (in Tommy Hilfiger) 10/10
In a grand reveal of a tear-off race suit, Idris donned a custom helmet adorned with over 20,000 swarovski crystals, by far the most wow-factor outfit I saw at the gala overall. Definitely the best-dressed man of the night, and a refreshing, creative twist on the theme in terms of men’s fashion!
