The Bay Area is home to some of the best food places in the country, from the most well-known and iconic restaurants to hidden gems found in local neighborhoods. What may become a series, Bay Area Bites is set on bringing reviews, rankings, and guides for people who find themselves in the 4-1-5 in SF to the 4-0-8 in San Jose and the 7-0-7 in North Bay, or to those that just need to grab something to eat.
For this Issue’s installment, we’ll travel to the heart of the Bay Area, San Francisco, specifically, Oracle Park–Home of the San Francisco Giants. Although Oracle isn’t technically a restaurant, it’s still home to many delicious food items, and ever since I became a fan of baseball, I wondered what were the best food places at Oracle. Well, after about a season of taste testing, I’ve gotten down to my top 5 foods that you can chow down while watching the SF Giants blast baseballs into the bay.
- Krazy Krab Sandwich
The Krazy Krab sandwich at Oracle is one the most iconic and popular foods of the Stadium, selling over 2,500 during each game, for good reason too! The sandwich includes dungeness crab mixed with tomato and mayonaise slapped between two slices of grilled sourdough bread. When I say “take me out to the ball game,” this Krab Sandwich is the reason I say that. This sandwich is one of my personal favorites. It’s a flavorful homage to the Bay Area’s famous Dungeness crab, and it’s always a must-get; just make sure you beat the long lines because they are sure to be stretching to the other side of the stadium.
- Oracle’s Famous Garlic Fries
Garlic Fries:an Oracle Park staple. Oracle Park’s fries are a combination of crispy, garlicky goodness that you can’t pass on when going to watch the Giants. When walking around the park, the aroma fills the air; it might as well have you levitating off the ground following its delectable scent. It’s a must have, whether you’re having them in a regular tray or in one of the Giants’ best stadium souvenirs [See images below]
- Ghirardelli Sundae
Topped with hot fudge, this sundae includes classic vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, Ghriaradelli chocolate, and a cherry on top. This indulgent treat is the best way to end your day at Oracle after watching Jung Hoo Lee hit a ball down left-center for the win. This sundae is another one of the stadium’s most famous and sought-after deserts, known for its rich, velvety vanilla, hot fudge, and Girardelli chocolate shavings. definitely a must-have for anyone with a sweet tooth.
- Clam chowder, Sourdough bread bowl
SF’s Clam chowder Sourdough bread bowl, there’s nothing like it. Nothing screams “San Francisco” more than this warm, creamy clam chowder served in a bowl made from SF’s famous sourdough bread. This meal has a combination of hearty broth, chunks of potatoes, and fresh clams, perfect for anyone who wants to indulge in some of the finer ball park foods.
- Fuku Chicken Sandwich
If none of these options give you the kick that you want, then look no further than the Fuku “O.G Chicken Sando,” A delectable sandwich that includes Fuku’s classic spicy, fried, juicy chicken, combined with spicy mayo and pickles, slapped between two soft buns, a great choice for anyone who wants a taste of something classic and flavorful
