Stuntin’ on Wilcox

By Camilla Gelacio

On Tuesday, March 25th, the Westmont stunt team went up against Wilcox High School in their second game of the season, earning a 18-4 victory. The team grew stronger and more confident as the game went on, showing amazing improvement and teamwork each quarter. STUNT is a sport that focuses on the more athletic elements of cheerleading, where two teams compete by performing routines in different categories, such as partner stunts, jumps and tumbling, pyramids and tosses, and full team routines. Senior Juri Kato states her favorite part of the game was in the fourth quarter when the team hit PS5, one of their harder routines. “I am very proud of our team for hitting our coach’s goal of getting 18 points,” she said. “We’ve been working really hard at practice, and it feels great to see our hard work pay off.” Come support them at their final game of the season on April 29 at 6 p.m. against Prospect, at Silver Creek High School!
