It is my honor to announce the recipient of one of the most coveted awards in our Academy’s arsenal— the most prestigious award for the “Most Random Teacher at Westmont!” to the one and only Adrian Sessions.
During my time in Session’s classroom, while taking IM3 STEM, each and every day started with the familiar projection of YouTube on the whiteboard— ranging between an operatic man and a dancing Tesla robot. Between lessons on quadratic functions and three-equation systems, Sessions would often take five-minute breaks to explain some of his favorite stories and tidbits, including Elon Musk.
“Once, I saw a National Geographic documentary that said that when a silverback gorilla rushes you, you have to remain calm, crouch down, and slowly walk. Unfortunately, the kid did not see the same thing.” He recounted his experiences with a special education kid running directly at him like a silverback gorilla to a flabbergasted class.
Though these things weren’t specifically required for a productive math class, they made an otherwise insufferable subject somewhat bearable, and each day, we were left wondering what on earth Mr. Sessions could have in store for us next. I hope this prestigious award brings Adrian Sessions the chaotic recognition he deserves, and thank you for joining us here at the Wally’s!
