Rating Pan Dulce

By Nadia Rivas

The instant smell of every good in life as you walk into a panderia is one of my favorite things ever. Forget regular bread; pan bollio and teleras are where it’s at. Growing up, we would go to panderia every Saturday for breakfast with my cup of warm milk. There were only two things I would get, pan bolio/telera or a tortuga. They changed my life forever; the flavors of the panes are unforgetable, you can taste every spice and love that was incorporated into crafting such a delicacy. As I got older, I realized anyone outside my culture might never hear of or even try such a treat, and it astonished me to imagine never trying un orejga or curno. Oh my gosh!!!! I think it’s only appropriate to leave others with the imagination of what my experiences of each pan were like soooo let’s rate them!!!

Conchas- Classic but not my fav 7/10

Cuernitos- These go great with milk I love them 8/10

Borrachos- these are pretty because of the swirl but they taste kind of burnt so 6/10

Trenza- these are my favorite their so simple but omg theyre amazing especially fresh out of the oven 10/10

Tortuga- these were my favorite as a child because i loved pull it apart from head to legs 9/10

Carita- A classic, the jelly was my favorite part and then dipping the cookie in milk was heaven 9/10

Oreja- I like these but only when I was really craving them, they’re a bit hard 6/10

Puerquitos – These taste burnt in my opinion but I can’t lie, they’re pretty good 7/10

Pan de queso y jalapeno- I love these when I’m craving something savory, I love the combination of the filling and bread; it’s amazing 10/10

Polvoron- these are surprisingly yummy, the outer part is crispy and then the middle is soft and creamy. 8/10
