In 1996, a plane full of high school’s star soccer players crashed on a remote island for 19 months. 25 years later, the survivors, now adults, must grapple with their pasts, and face what they had done to ensure their survival.
Told through switches between their teenage and adult lives, the audience gradually learns more about the Yellowjackets ( their team name). In the wilderness, we see how certain characters adapt to their new environment, and how others die in the process. Morals and sanity falter as food and warmth become a priority–especially when Winter arrives. In the modern day, the adult Yellowjackets follow the consequences of the event, which they’ve concealed the truth about (despite speculation) for years. While attempting to live normal lives, a “reporter” stirs up repressed memories and a mysterious identity threatens to expose the truth. Relationships arise, friendships fall, and trust is broken. When pushed to the limits, how will a group of young girls react to the forces of nature working against them? What happened out in the wilderness? One thing’s for certain: those girls came back changed, and never lost their appetite to hunt.
