Albums of the Year

By Nadia Rivas

Now that the year has officially ended and both Spotify and Apple Music have wrapped it up, the best albums for 2024 are ranked. Let’s rewind the year to some of the best albums ever!

*Note this is not my ranking

Number 10

Tigers Blood by Waxahatchee

This indie album is about adult romance, someone struggling with sobriety, and the constant battle of trying to hold it together.

Number 9

Aligator Bites Never Heal by Doechii

“Doechii makes herself known as a fully realized artist, with immense technical and curatorial skills. On it, she slickly glides from gritty boom-bap, sensual electronic, dance music, Miami jook, and earnest soul with a wicked pen and brilliant charisma. Her varied vocal tics and beat selections are often akin to Kendrick Lamar’s, but she also sounds like a student of A Tribe Called Quest, Missy Elliott, and Nicki Minaj. Most often, though, she simply sounds like Doechii”. – Rolling Stones.

Number 8

Eternal Sunshine by Ariana Grande

This album is beautiful, and it goes through all the stages of grief. She spends the majority of the album fighting for herself making this one of the more unique albums yet

Number 7

We Don’t Trust You by Future and Metro Boomin,

This album will go down in history as one of the best collaborations ever. It delivers classic Future slaps. Despite the beef, Future and Metro brought an old hip/hop feeling that was once gone.

Number 6, Tyla by Tyla

The long-awaited debut by 22 one year from Johannesburg native Tyla was a must for this year. This upbeat album had everyone moving and dancing with hits like “Water”. She did an amazing job representing Africans across the world this year.

Number 5.

Hit Me Hard and Soft by Billie Eilish

This album should be higher, in my opinion. Billie did her big one with this one. It was one of her best albums, with many nonstop emotional changes from depression, isolation, and misery. This is a Grammy winner for sure; it was beautifully done.

Number 4

Short n Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter

This album was sweet. Her two biggest hits like “lease, Please, Please”

And “Espresso” was a replay for many. It’s kind of filthy but in a good way, this was one of those albums that had everyone singing non-stop.

Number 3

Manning Fireworks

Over the past few years country songwriter Mj Lendermen has become every indie-rock fan favorite. He makes this album his own from greats like Neil Young and Paul Westerberg he uses a bit of their genres and style and makes it his own.

Number 2

Cowboy Carter by Beyonce

This album is different from what Beyonce usually puts out her past albums were centered around romance but in this album, she channels her inner Southern roots and by the end she makes it known that she is and will always be a girl from the south.

Number 1

Brat by Charli XCX

This album is worth number one. It wasn’t just a brat summer it was a brat year. In the past, she had some familiar songs like Boom Clap, and I love it. But as of now, this whole album is iconic. This album is steaming from the mid-30s and the anxieties Charli still feels as a mother and often questions this much attention as well as also being a mother. Nonetheless took over this year by a lot and had everyone dancing.
