Breathtaking Boys Soccer

By Lili Metanovic

Winter sports are back and you know what that means, the Westmont boys’ soccer team is too, and they are looking for success this season. With their stacked roster consisting of 15 returning varsity players, they are hoping the old and fresh blood on their team will combine to make this a great season. They have high expectations to meet from last season where they were seeded 1st in the CCS Division 1 Playoffs and had a record of 11-6-4. The players, as well as 11-year-long head coach Matthew Schembri, are hoping to bring home another League Title, with the last one they’ve won being 2 seasons ago. Senior and Captain for 3 years, Spencer Hoang says, “We’re excited for this year because we have many returning players which keeps our chemistry strong. We’re also excited to play harder opponents like Saint Francis and Mountain View.” Come support the team at their first home game on Saturday, December 14th versus Saint Francis!
