Where the Wild Things Grow

By Jordan Kwong

In the forest, a tree stands tall,
Never falling, resilient through all.
Its roots bury deep in the earth’s dark soil,
Sustaining life through every toil.

In the desert, a cactus grows strong,
Guarded by spines, enduring and long.
Under blazing heat, it stores each drop,
A fortress of life, where others stop.

In the tundra, flowers dot the ground,
Bright petals bloom where life’s rarely found.
They thrive in defiance of cold, harsh air,
Fragile yet fierce, surviving with care.

Across every land, life finds a way,
Through storm and drought, through night and day.
So may we too, stand tall and strong,
Finding the places where we belong.
