Singing 4 Senior Homes, a community service club at Westmont, brings students together to spread music and joy to senior residents. From old classics to Broadway bangers, we visit senior homes to perform a range of songs. The response from the seniors has been very heartwarming, and many share stories of how our music reminds them of special moments in their lives. Additionally, we recently added a karaoke sing-a-long session, where the seniors get a chance to immerse themselves in the performance.
The impact of our performances go beyond just entertainment. At one performance, a new resident at the senior home shared her emotional story with us, describing how difficult her first three days at the home were, with no family or friends. She had previously worked at a children’s theater and said our performance brought her immense joy. As she left, smiling, the activities director revealed that just the day before, the resident had been in tears, doubting she could make it through the week. Moments like that remind our club of the transformative power of the arts.
If you love singing and want to make a positive impact, consider joining for our next performance. Also make sure to follow our instagram @singing4seniorz and join us at our bi weekly meetings during lunch in room 64!
