How to Get Involved

By Valerie Garcia-Vallejo

Many worry that since they did not do anything their first year of high school that they do not belong, or they do not have a place in their school. Here at Westmont, there is a place for everyone. Whether there be a sport, a club, or a class, there is a spot here for everyone on campus, the only way to find out is getting involved. So, how do you get involved? Well, if you are interested in sports, the best way to get involved is by keeping up with the sports program, asking for updates, and of course going to tryouts. For clubs, be sure to attend club fair and sign up for clubs that interest you and seem like the perfect fit. Clubs are a great way to get involved on campus and have an activity to keep you occupied during lunch. Clubs are fun and are a great way of expressing creativity. Here on campus, we have cultural clubs like Latinos Unidos and Asian Student Union. As well, there are hobby clubs like video game club and crochet club. If you are more of a wellness and health person, then the bring change to mind club is for you! Be sure to check out the club fair in September. Likewise, if there is not a club that interests you, there is always space for a new club! Additionally, many do not find sports or clubs their thing, but getting involved and actively participating in a favorite class is a great way to brighten up your high school years and make the most out of them.
